Pulp Art in novels and magazines was popular from the late 1800's through the 1940’s and 50’s when inexpensive, low grade paper, or ‘pulp’ was available. Illustrations in pulp novels and magazines were many times salacious fantasy fiction and science fiction. The genre saw it’s last days near the end of WWII as higher quality paper saw the emergence of comic books and paperbacks, replacing the genre in popularity.
